1. Diurnal is a disgusting word to me.
2. Do you ever think about your "crazy" cat lady neighbors and laugh at the stereotype of them? Then you realize that they were once 31, and they probably were productively creative at one point until they completely lost touch with the world. And then you look in the mirror and think to yourself in the horror of that futile recognition, "Oh Shit! Diurnal is a disgusting word to me!"

You're right diurnal is a horrible word. Nocturnal is all cool and edgy sounding. But diurnal is just a mixture of die and urinal – neither very appealing.
You’re also right about the ‘crazy cat ladies.’ I think we should fear and pity them precisely because they are we.
